Our Centre-Based Advantage

Centre-Based Therapy is twice as effective than
Home-Based Therapy.

Behaviour programs can be home or center-based. While the ideas and goals behind the treatment are the same, center-based treatment is proven to achieve better results than with children who receive treatment at home. Children achieve 100% more learning per hour during centre-based vs. home-based treatment. Furthermore, parents of children in the centre-based programme report the most gains in “perception of competence & quality of life.” This approach is proven to be the most effective way to teach children with ASD.

The time spent learning in the centre-based environment alongside intensive therapy is known as the period of intense discrete coaching, targeted at removing the variability of the “outside world” and teaching socially significant and other life essential skills in a more intensive setting.

Important differences between Centre-based and
Home-based models are outlined below

Therapy Environment

Structured and predictable

Unpredictable with distractions

Supervision of Therapy Quality

Heightened supervision and consultation opportunities with multiple supervisors and therapists on-site. This makes it easy for clinicians to observe together, consult on programming, discuss opinions, and evaluate options. At any point during the therapy session, the Supervisor can observe, assess, and modify the therapy in real-time.

Therapists operate in a more isolated environment without readily available supervision or peer review. Supervisor usually sees your child once a month.

Supervision of Therapy Quality

Faster due to rigorous on-site training of therapy team with your child. Usually this takes 2 weeks.

Significantly slower as new therapists would train once a week with supervisor. Full onboarding takes upto 12 weeks or more.

Consistency of Services

Availability of a replacement therapist in the event a team member needs to request time off.

Replacement therapist is usually not available resulting in reduction of therapy hours and intensity.

Generalization

Learned skills get generalised with other trained therapists

Limited opportunities due to relative lack of sufficient trained therapists and peers at home

Flexibility in Scheduling

Greater, due to multiple therapists available at a single clinic location

More restricted as session timings are subject to therapist availability.

Social skills

Constant opportunity for socialization to target social and language skills with peers, and participate in play-based therapy during structured group activities.

Limited, due to lack of availability of sufficient number of peers and therapists to oversee interactions in a structured manner

HR and Resource Management

Therapists have access to a wider variety of reinforcers as compared to home setting.

Parent has to arrange therapist hiring, training, scheduling and wages whilst also readying the materials needed for the session such as folders, printed programs/ data sheets, toys etc

Respite

Half and full day sessions are available. Parents are assured that recommended number of the quality therapy hours are completed each week while they pursue their professional and personal goals.

As parents and other carers have to be present at home manage the sessions, the opportunities for other daily activities gets limited due to therapy commitments.

We’ve created a fun and productive setting to receive intensive treatment while also meeting and interacting with other children. The home can be an unpredictable environment. Our purpose-built autism treatment centers create a safe and structured environment to target goals and teach skills while eliminating distractions that might be present in the home or community.

We then work on transferring those same skills into a mainstream education classroom, once they have undergone a necessary course of intensive therapy and acquired skills required for continuing education in a less structured setting.
